Description

The Frozen Fields by Nick Warburton takes a “what if?” approach to the Nativity story: what if the Wise Men were refugees? What if one of them became ill and couldn’t go on? What if they got separated on the journey?  What if they got swept along by the crowds of people flocking to be counted in the census? What if the baby drove Mary and Joseph apart? What if Mary met a Wise Man on the road? From a melting-pot of counterfactuals Nick Warburton has taken some essential elements and reconstituted them into a parallel narrative.  The story is about journeys, about identity, about homes and names. A highly unusual take on the Nativity, for audiences who are prepared to be challenged.  Performance can be promenaded or static. Two-act. 1w, 1m, 3 either.
