Description
Last Orders by Joe Laredo is an entertaining and thought-provoking two-hander in which the characters are specialist shoemakers working for an old-fashioned bespoke firm. Geoffrey and Steve are polar opposites who are driving each other mad in the first scene and have learned to appreciate each other’s best qualities in the last. The company is facing bankruptcy and while Geoffrey feels nostalgic about the thousands of handwritten records on the shelves and the quality of craftsmanship they symbolize, Steve begins to see them as an opportunity for historical research. And as Steve faces up to a failed marriage, Geoffrey manages to consign a painful relationship to the past as they both look to the future with hope. One-act, 2m. Items of office furniture would be useful but are not essential.
